Central Volleyball Tryouts

Central Middle School will be holding volleyball tryouts for 7th- and 8th-grade players Aug. 11-13 from 9-11a.m. All participants must have a completed physical form in order to participate. Any questions email mwilson@findlaycityschools.org.

Young Miss Softball Meeting

Findlay Young Miss Softball will hold its year-end meeting on Thursday, August 5 at 6:30 p.m. at The Cube. All managers should bring their equipment to the meeting. Board officers for 2011 will be elected and board openings will be filled that night. All coaches, players, parents, umpires and sponsors are invited to attend. Softball Tryouts

The Findlay Girls Fastpitch Softball Club will host tryouts for the U14 Findlay Flame and U16 Hancock Heat travel teams 4-7 p.m. Aug 7 at Lady Trojan Softball Field at Findlay High School. Any girl interested can email jwelch@larichechevrolet.com, call 419-788-0229 or show up on tryout day. Rain day is 4-7 p.m. Aug. 8.

Liberty-Benton Boosters

The Liberty-Benton Athletic Boosters will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday in the athletic director's office.

Riverdale Golf Meeting/Golf Scramble

MOUNT BLANCHARD -- Students interested in playing golf at Riverdale should report to the team's first practice Monday at 7 a.m. at Sycamore Springs Golf Course. Riverdale's golf team will also be holding a two-man golf scramble fundraiser Saturday at 2 p.m. at Sycamore Springs. The cost is $45 and openings are available. Fremont Fall Baseball League

There will be a fall baseball league sponsored by the Fremont American Legion for high school players in grades 10-12. Players will participate in a five-week season consisting on doubleheaders every Sunday starting Sept. 12. Doubleheaders will consist of one 7-inning and one 5-inning game. Host sites will be Fremont Ross, Heidelberg Univ., Tiffin Univ., Elmwood, Fremont St. Joseph, Clyde, and New Riegel. The cost for the Fall League is $60. Spots will be filled on a first come first serve basis. No more than 15 players on each team. Players must go to www.fremontfallleague.com to find out information about the fall league.

3-On-3 Soccer Tournament

BLUFFTON -- Bluffton Family Recreation will hold a 3-on-3 Goals Galore soccer tournament for youth and adult Aug. 15. Matches are played on small-sized fields with only three field players. Youth divisions for U10, U12, U15 will be offered as well as adult divisions. Cost is $60 per team. Proceeds from the tournament will support BFR operations. Contact BFR directly or visit the website at www.bfronline.com for registration materials. Bluffton Famly Recreation is also hosting its second anual Challenger British Soccer Camp Aug. 2-6 from 9 a.m.-noon each day. Instruction will be done by a teaching staff from Britain. On Sept. 4, BFR will hold a 5-K run. One option of the event is a pump n' run, which allows participants to combine weight lifting challenges with the run. Cost for the race and pump 'n run is $15; registration by Aug. 28 includes t-shirt. A 1-mile fun run will also be offered for youth and walkers. Volunteers are needed to serve as course assistants, as well.

Van Buren Boosters/Booster Drive

VAN BUREN -- The Van Buren Athletic Boosters will meet Monday at 7 p.m. in the Community Room at the Van Buren High School. Also, the annual VB Athletic Booster drive takes place Tuesday and Wednesday at around 6 p.m. If residents miss the athletes going door to door and wish to become a booster member, please mail your donation to: Van Buren Schools Attn: VB Athletic Boosters 217 S. Softball Tournament

PORT CLINTON -- The 13th annual Laurie Mann Memorial Softbasll Tournament is set for Aug. 20-21 at Port Clinton's Waterworks Park. For more information, contact Mike Williamson at 419-656-2197.

L-B Boosters Golf Scramble

The Liberty-Benton Boosters golf scramble is set for Sept.19 at Sycamore Springs Golf Club. There will be a shotgun start at 9 a.m. amd lunch will be provided by Max & Erma's. Anyone interested in playing or becoming a sponsor should contact Joe Curto at 419-429-1002. The cost is $240 per four-player team.
