Girls Golf: Scoby, Okada lead FHS to 2nd place
ARLINGTON -- The Findlay High girls golf team got solid play from Erin Scoby and Emi Okada on Wednesday as the Trojans earned a spot in the Division I girls district on Monday.

Ashland finished with a 359 as the No.1 team in the sectional at Sycamore Springs Golf Course. Findlay nailed down the second spot with a 363 and Lima Shawnee earned the third district berth with a 374.

The three teams will now focus on district play at Stone Ridge Golf Club on Monday. The top two teams and the top two individuals from a non-qualifying team will advance to the state golf championships on Oct. 19-20 at Ohio State.

On Wednesday, Scoby opened with a 41 and finished with a 46 for a team-leading 87. Okada shot a 43-46--89, while the Trojans also got a 43-48--91 from Taylor Tweed and a 48-48--96 from Kelly Rowe. Suzanne Short shot a 49-55--104.

Ashland's Tori Jones was the overall medalist with a 38-40--78. Teresa Jedra (40-40--80) of Lexington, Isabell Clairmonte (47-50--97) of Lexington and Kaiti Beveridge (47-50--97) of Norwalk qualified for district play as individuals.
