MIDLAND, Mich. -- It appeared early on Friday night that the University of Findlay women's volleyball team was on its way to an upset of the top team in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
But after picking up a 26-24 win over Northwood in the first set, the Oilers were unable to keep the momentum lost the next three sets, 26-24, 25-16 and 25-15.
UF (8-6, 5-3 GLAIC) had its four-match win streak snapped. NU is now 13-3 overall and 8-0 in the conference.
Former Columbus Grove standout Mackenzie Vorst tallied 15 kills and seven digs while Danielle Taflinger added nine kills and three digs.
Brittany Hall paced the Oilers defensively with 16 digs and Amanda Calhoun dished out 37 assists.
Julie Pakhomenko led the Timberwolves with 20 kills.
The Oilers will try to bounce back today when they battle rival Hillsdale in a 2 p.m. match. The Chargers are 6-9 overall and 5-2 in the conference.
