Football: Carey piles up 545 yards in 59-0 romp
CAREY -- Carey's offense and defense both stole the show Friday night as the Blue Devils rolled to a dominating 59-0 win over Lakota.

Carey rolled up 545 yards of total offense, including 466 rushing yards, and held Lakota to just 8 total yards while improving to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the Midland Athletic Leauge.

Justin Meek led Carey with 154 yards on 13 carries. He was one of three Carey players, along with Brandon Zechman and quarterback Matt Holsinger, to rush for two touchdowns.

Holsinger gained 105 yards on eight carries. Zechman, Austin Tschanen, Levi Smalley and Dillon Musgrave combined for another 196 yards on 18 carries.

Carey averaged 9.5 yards per carry, while the Blue Devils' defense held Lakota to 12 rushing yards on 29 carries and minus 4 passing yards.

The Raiders (2-5, 0-4) failed to earn a first down and were forced to punt seven times.

Holsinger scored on runs of 10 and 67 yards in the first quarter to stake Carey to a 14-0 lead.

Touchdown runs by Tschanen, Meek, Zechman and Smalley pushed Carey's lead to 41-0 at halftime.

TIFFIN -- Dan Kwiat ran for 212 yards and touchdowns of 2 and 43 yards as Tiffin Calvert crushed North Baltimore 52-16 Friday in a Midland Athletic League game.

Tyler Long also had a big night for the Senecas scoring touchdowns on runs of 27 and 2 yards.

Calvert (4-3, 3-1 MAL) rushed for 444 yards.

Lane Bishop did have a solid game for North Baltimore (1-6, 0-4). The sophomore running back rushed 13 times for 142 yards and touchdowns of 56 and 26 yards.

The Tigers were victimized by two interceptions and a fumble.
