Football: Genoa grinds out big victory over Royals
BLOOMDALE -- On a rainy Friday night, the Genoa Comets figured nothing good was going to come from going to the air.

PEMBERVILLE -- Eastwood ran out to a 41-0 halftime lead and never looked back, thumping Fostoria 61-6 on Friday in a Northern Buckeye Conference contest.

Eastwood (4-3, 4-0 NBC) gained 314 rushing yards and scored seven touchdowns, while holding Fostoria (0-7, 0-4) to 188 total yards.

The Eagles jumped out to an early lead when Isaiah Conkle returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for the first of seven Eastwood touchdowns.

That was a sign of things to come.

With Eastwood ahead 14-0, the Eagles took over again after recovering a fumble by Fostoria quarterback Dom Fuller, who was starting in place of injured senior Adonis Cousin.

Eastwood quarterback Jack Schmeltz made it 21-0 on a 13-yard keeper with 4:57 left in the first quarter.

Brent Schlumbohm carried 14 times for 158 yards and two touchdowns to lead Eastwood.

Keanu Crowe led Fostoria with 124 yards on 24 carries, including the Redmen's only touchdown.
