Prep volleyball: L-B wins twice at Bluffton Tri
BLUFFTON -- Liberty-Benton's volleyball team ran its season record to 18-2 Saturday by sweeping past Lima Bath and Bluffton at the Bluffton Triangular.

The Eagles, who will entertain Cory-Rawson on Monday with a chance to win the outright Blanchard Valley Conference title, stopped Bath 25-20, 25-12 and held off Bluffton 25-22, 25-20. Bluffton defeated Lima Bath 25-23, 14-25, 25-23 in the other match.

L-B's Carrie Reynolds served 18 points with four aces with Brooke Hoehne (15-15 serving) also finishing with four ace serves. Liz Streacker recorded 12 kills and Carrigan Gray (20-23 hitting) added 11, Olivia Newman had 19 digs and Rachel Myers (76-76 setting) registered a team-leading 26 assists for the Eagles.

NEW RIEGEL 3

ARLINGTON 0

NEW RIEGEL -- Taylor Arbogast, Lauren Ladd and Kara Scherger combined for 34 kills as New Riegel blitzed Arlington 25-18, 25-15, 25-10 Saturday in nonconference volleyball action.

Arbogast led the way offensively with 16 kills for the Blue Jackets (19-1), who were rated ninth in the latest OHSVCA Division IV poll. Ladd added 10 kills and Scherger eight.

Scherger also led New Riegel defensively with 12 digs. Cassandra Acree piled up 28 assists.

Adrienne Shepard had a stellar day for the Red Devils (14-6) with 15 kills and three blocks. Laurin Houck dished off 24 assists and Erin Helms had 10 digs.

ST. WENDELIN 1

RAWSON -- Nicole Hulihan had 15 kills and Tessa Heitmeyer was a force on offense and defense as Cory-Rawson beat St. Wendelin on Saturday 26-24, 21-25, 25-15, 25-20 in a nonconference volleyball game.

Heitmeyer made good on 113 of 115 setting attempts for 33 assists and had 14 digs on defense for Cory-Rawson (12-7). Adrienne Erford led the Hornets with 16 digs.

Lexie Gauss had 11 kills and Jessie Ream added 10 kills and 14 digs.

Olivia Zimmerman and Colleen Fondessy had 10 kills apiece for St. Wendelin (9-11). Meghan Reiter led the Mohawks with 19 assists, Allie Rutter added 14 and Taylor Lucius finished with 24 digs.

DOLA -- Cami Castle had 13 kills to help Hardin Northern sweep past Ridgemont 25-16, 25-10, 25-21 in a nonconference volleyball match Saturday.

Molly Wilson was 20 for 21 serving with three aces and had 18 assists for Hardin Northern (7-9). London Crist finished with six kills, and Taylor Allen had three blocks and three aces.

VANLUE 1

VANLUE -- Kayla Cornette smashed 10 kills, had 15 digs and two aces but it wasn't enough for Vanlue as North Baltimore defeated the Wildcats 26-28, 25-18, 26-24, 25-16 Saturday in a Volley for the Cure nonconference game.

The two teams raised $700 to donate to the Susan G Koman fund.

Heather Gerschutz dished off 17 assists and had two aces. Katie Thomas had six kills and five blocks as well for the Wildcats (3-14).

North Baltimore improved to 4-15.

BETTSVILLE -- Madie Ramsey excelled in several areas and Arcadia annihilated Bettsville 25-9, 25-12, 25-6 Saturday in nonconference volleyball action.

Ramsey led the Redskins with 17 points and six aces on 17 of 19 serving. She also dished off 23 assists on 65 of 67 setting and scooped up eight digs.

Madison Stuby (13 kills) and Molly Glick (12) led Arcadia (15-5) offensively. Courtney Cramer had three aces, Stuby six digs and Glick three blocks as well for the Redskins.

Bettsville falls to 2-14 on the season.

COLUMBUS GROVE -- Julia Wynn slammed 17 kills and Columbus Grove picked up a 25-12, 25-15, 24-26, 25-22 Putnam County League win over Pandora-Gilboa on Saturday.

Rachel Schumacher dished off 49 assists and Kelli Vorst served up three aces. On defense, Faith Huff (three blocks) and Sydney McCluer came up big for the Bulldogs.

Columbus Grove was able to survive another strong outing from the Rockets' Megan Maag, who mashed 23 kills, picked up 13 digs, served up an ace and had four blocks.

Vivian Nofziger handed out 31 assists, while Hunter Hermill had two aces, seven kills and 12 digs.

UPPER SANDUSKY TRI

UPPER SANDUSKY -- Taylor Graboski and Jessi Holly combined for 39 kills as Upper Sandusky swept Carey and Willard Saturday in a tri-match at Upper Sandusky.

Upper Sandusky defeated Willard 25-19, 25-19 in the opening match and followed with a 25-21, 25-15 win over Carey to run its record to 17-3. Willard topped Carey in the other match 25-13, 25-20.

Graboski finished with 22 kills and Holly added 17. Allison Snyder led Upper Sandusky (17-3) with 56 total assists, while kills Jenna Holly had 13 digs and Jessi Holly added 12.

Carey's Hannah Tong had 18 kills and five blocks, and Sydney Wentling dished out 30 assists on 72 of 75 setting attempts for the Blue Devils (12-7). Taylor Fletcher had 10 digs for Carey.
