FHS boys golf team seeking state berth
State tournament experience will be a plus for the Findlay High boys golf team as the Trojans seek a return trip to Columbus with a top-two finish in today's Division I district meet at the Mohawk Country Club.

Three of Findlay's top five golfers were on last year's team that qualified for state. Those three also turned in the Trojans best rounds in Columbus, with Spencer Shoemaker, a sophomore, carding an 82-79--161, senior Eli Stacy an 83-82--165 and senior Mason McCool an 88-86--174.

Senior Earl Streacker and freshman Trevor St.-Jean round out a Findlay lineup that advanced to the district with a second-place 312. Toledo St. John's won the sectional with a 310. Sylvania Northview (322), Toledo St. Francis (323) and Anthony Wayne (326) also advanced.

Rounding out today's district will be five teams from a sectional at Huron's Thunderbird South Golf Course. Avon Lake and Bowling Green topped that field with 314s, Ashland had a 318, Elyria a 320 and Sandusky Perkins a 323.

The top two teams and top two individuals from nonqualifying teams will advance to next week's Division I state meet at Ohio State.
