Prep soccer: Northview blanks Trojans
SYLVANIA -- Sylvania Northview got off to a quick start and Findlay was never able to even the score as the Trojans fell to the Wildcats 2-0 Thursday in nonconference boys soccer play.

Spencer Clement's goal off of a throw-in from Adam Gonia just 52 seconds into the game forced Findlay into an uphill battle.

Although play was even for most of the game, the Trojans were never able to generate any great scoring opportunities and trailed 1-0 for most of the match.

Gonia put Findlay away with 13:29 left when he scored a free kick set piece goal for Northview, which put nine shots on goal compared to Findlay's two.

Mason Hill led the Trojans defensively with 11 intercepts and three steals. Max McDonald added six intercepts and four steals.

Clayton Hildebrand made seven saves in goal for Findlay, which wraps up its regular season with an 8-5-3 record.

Nate Bartlett made two saves for the Wildcats (10-3-2).

The Trojans begin tournament play on Monday at Elmer Graham Stadium where they will face Lima Senior at 7 p.m.

OTTAWA-GLANDORF 9

VAN WERT 0

GLANDORF -- Eric Beckman recorded a hat trick in the first half and Ottawa-Glandorf went on to beat Van Wert 9-0 on Thursday to secure a share of the Western Buckeye League title.

Ottawa-Glandorf (14-1, 8-1) will share the WBL title with Lima Shawnee (8-1 WBL), who knocked off unbeaten St. Marys Memorial 4-1 Thursday night.

Nate Toumazos, Mike Rosebrock, Cory Imm, Brandon Lauth, Tyler Ellerbrock and Mitch Niese all scored one goal apiece for Ottawa-Glandorf.

The Titans took target practice and launched 34 shots in the direction of Van Wert goalkeeper A.J. Smith, who managed nine saves.

Tyler Ellerbrock, Brad Nuveman and Jacob Ellerbrock combined to save all four of Van Wert's shots on goal.

Van Wert dropped to 2-11-1 and 0-9.

Beckman scored the game's first two goals in a span of a little more than six minutes, the second coming with 28:34 left in the first half. Mitch Niese made it 3-0 when he scored with 17:01 left. Toumaazos's goal with 8:15 remaining made it 4-0. Beckman's third goal of the half came with 1:42 left before intermission.

UPPER SANDUSKY -- Brandon Miller scored twice to power Upper Sandusky past Ada 4-1 Thursday in a North Central Ohio Soccer Association match.

Shin Nagahama also scored and added two assists for the Rams (12-4 overall, 6-1 NCOSA).

Justin Mathewson scored for Ada (2-11-2, 2-4-1).

OLD FORT -- Justin Riegle's second-half goal was the difference in Riverdale's 2-1 North Central Ohio Soccer Association win over Old Fort.

Jimmy Fox scored the Falcons' other goal while Tyler Weatherholtz and Nick Parsell were credited with assists.

Marc Salas scored for the Stockaders on a penalty kick.

Ross Kaufman recorded a hat trick, scoring two goals as Miller City built a three-goal advantage by halftime Thursday for a 4-2 nonconference boys soccer victory over Liberty-Benton.

The victory lifts Miller City to 9-7-0, while Liberty-Benton slips to 12-3-1.

Kaufman's two first-half goals came in a 10-minute span after the Wildcats' Travis Maas also scored.

Kaufman's third tally was sandwiched between goals by Liberty-Benton's Jacob Lyberg and Peyton Schroeder. Kaufman also had an assist.

Miller City had 13 shots and Liberty-Benton 11 with Austin Miller recording 10 saves for the Wildcats and Dillon Burkett repelling four for the Eagles. L-B had a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.



VAN BUREN 8

TIFFIN CALVERT 0

TIFFIN -- Daniel Roberts had two goals and three assists Thursday and Van Buren picked up an 8-0 nonconference boys soccer win over Tiffin Calvert.

Ted Simmons also struck for two goals, while JJ Mowrey added a goal and two helpers for the Black Knights.

Dylan Sexton, Jon Bach and Corey Spoon also converted goals for Van Buren, which outshot the Senecas 30-1.

Nathan Maynard only needed to make one save to preserve the Black Knights' shutout.

CONVOY -- Kalida's offensive output Thursday was nearly a total team effort as six players scored in a 6-0 win over Crestview that kept the Wildcats unbeaten on the season.

Skylar Basinger, Lindsey Erhart, Jackie Gardner, Summer Holtkamp, Brittany Kahle and Laine Laudick each scored a goal for Kalida (15-0-1).

Justine Verhoff added an assist for the Wildcats who outshot Crestview 25-0.

Crestview's Darcci Swagger managed 17 saves in goal for the Knights (2-10-3).

BLUFFTON -- Jana Fish, Jessie Selhorst and Kayla Trevino each scored a pair of goals and Liberty-Benton made quick work of Bluffton on Thursday, beating the Pirates 6-0 in girls in North Central Ohio Soccer Association play.

Trevino, Selhorst and Marissa Burkett each had one assist for Liberty-Benton (11-4-1, 4-1-1 NCOSA).

The Eagles, who held a 16-7 advantage in shots on goal, led 2-0 at halftime then poured in on after intermission.

Kaitlyn Hanrahan had three stops for the Eagles. Bluffton goalkeeper Abbey Heslep made eight saves for the Pirates (4-10-2, 3-3).

FORT JENNINGS -- Senior goalkeeper Gabbie German had a senior night to remember Thursday as she recorded the shutout in a 2-0 nonconference girlssoccer win over Ottoville.

German recorded seven saves on the night as Macy Schroeder and Marissa Mesker scored for the Musketeers (13-1-3).
