Prep volleyball: Findlay grabs third place at TRAC Tournament
Four players slammed at least six kills and the Findlay volleyball team swept Toledo Central Catholic to win the consolation match of the Three Rivers Athletic Conference Tournament 25-19, 25-18, 25-17 Thursday at the University of Findlay's Croy Gymnasium.

Emma Schleucher led the Trojans (19-3) with 10 kills and an ace on 13 of 13 serving.

Ciara Ralston (eight kills), Allison Twining (seven) and Kayce Krucki (six) also did damage at the net.

Lindsay George served four aces and dished off 11 assists. Emily Lauth had 14 assists.

Brittane Burnside and Twining each had 12 digs for Findlay defensively.

The Trojans open up Division I tournament play next Saturday at Otsego where they will play either Bowling Green or Fremont Ross at 4 p.m.

OLD FORT — Lauren Ladd, Kara Scherger and Cassandra Acree paved the way for New Riegel on Thursday, as the Blue Jackets swept Old Fort 25-10, 25-9, 25-18 to clinch second place in the Midland Athletic League.

Ladd had 17 digs and 14 kills, Scherger added with 12 kills and Acree finished with 25 assists for New Riegel (21-1, 10-1) in the final game of the regular season.

Taylor Arbogast added 11 kills and Morgan Noftz had six assists for the Blue Jackets.

Old Fort dropped to 3-19, 2-9.

BASCOM -- Courtney Burns was a force on offense and defense Thursday in Hopewell-Loudon's 25-20, 25-22, 25-17 win over Seneca East in Midland Athletic League volleyball.

Burns finished with 11 kills, 22 assists on 57-57 setting attempts, six aces and five digs for Hopewell-Loudon (9-13, 6-5 MAL).

Shelby Sauber also was perfect in her setting chances, converting all 30 attempts for 12 assists. She also added 11 kills for the Chieftains. Kassie Welly finished with 15 digs, and Logan Frank added 10 digs and eight kills for Hopewell-Loudon.

Seneca East fell to 6-15, 3-8.

FOSTORIA -- Ali Mowrey served five aces, Mehan Reiter had 10 assists and Adrienne Emerine seven kills Thursday night as Fostoria St. Wendelin posted a 25-10, 25-10, 25-18 girls volleyball win over Midland Athletic League foe Bettsville.

The victory leaves 11-11 overall and 4-6 in the MAL, while Bettsville (2-16) suffered its 11th league loss of the season.

Colleen Fondessy and Olivia Zimmerman each had six kills for the Mohawks, while Fondessy added three blocks and eight digs. Georgia Kitchen and Taylor Lucius each had eight digs.



FREMONT ST. JOSEPH 3

CAREY 1

CAREY -- Hannah Tong blasted 27 kills and set a new school record, but it still wasn't enough for Carey as Fremont St. Joseph beat the Blue Devils 25-10, 22-25, 25-18, 25-21 Thursday in a Midland Athletic League volleyball match.

Tong's 27 kills make her the career leader at the school with 859. She broke Ashley Funk's previous mark of 837, which Funk accumulated from 1994-1997.

Tong also led the Blue Devils (13-8, 7-4 MAL) with five blocks in the match.

Sidney Wentling dished out 39 assists and smashed three aces. Shelby Kinn had 11 kills and three blocks.

Logan Johnson and Mackenzie Wentling led Carey defensively with 22 and 16 digs respectively.

Fremont St. Joseph improved to 15-4, 8-3.

SYCAMORE -- North Baltimore offered little resistance as Mohawk blew past the Tigers on Thursday 25-5, 25-9, 25-11 to clinch the Midland Athletic League title with an unblemished conference record.

Morgan Schloemp and Jasmine Bretz had one kill each for North Baltimore (4-18, 1-10 MAL). Emma Rister finished with one ace.

Mohawk improved to 18-2 and 13-0.

Mohawk also won the junior varsity match 25-16, 25-11 as well as the freshman contest, 25-20, 25-9.



BLUFFTON 3

VAN BUREN 0

BLUFFTON -- Kaleigh Oberly smashed 10 kills with 11 digs and two aces to lead Bluffton Thursday to a 25-17, 25-18, 25-12 nonconference volleyball win over Van Buren.

Paige Buroker added 13 digs and eight kills, Lauren Parkins had 11 digs and Olivia Hunt dished out 41 assists and served for two aces for the Pirates (11-9).

Sarah Benson led Van Buren with six kills and four aces. Elyse Anderbery had five kills and two aces, Paige Sudlow recorded 15 digs and Brianna Orchard added 10 assists for the Black Knights.

HARROD -- Adrienne Shepard slammed nine kills and Arlington defeated Allen East 25-21, 25-22, 25-20 Thursday in nonconference volleyball action.

The Red Devils took advantage of solid team play. Jordyn Webb and Britnee Johnson each had six kills.

Shepard, Alyssa Dodds, Erin Helms, Lauren Alexander, Webb and Laurin Houck all cleaned up six digs.

Houck dished off 25 assists and along with Webb served up three aces for Arlington, which finished the regular season at 16-6.

MILLER CITY -- Four Liberty-Benton players had as many kills as Miller City's team and the Eagles picked up a lopsided 25-7, 25-9, 25-4 nonconference volleyball win Thursday.

If Rachel Myers wasn't perfect, she was sure close. Myers was 12 of 12 hitting with 10 kills, 18 of 18 serving with three aces and 30 of 30 setting with 16 assists.

Carrigan Gray, Morgan Lishawa and Allison Hughes each added seven kills offensively for the Eagles (20-2), who were 70-71 hitting as a team.

Blair Harmon led L-B with five aces, while Carrie Reynolds and Olivia Newman each had seven digs.

Haley Lammers led Miller City (1-20) with three kills, an ace and three blocks. She also cleaned up five digs.

Catie Hermiller scooped up 10 digs, while Brianne Rosengarten and Kylee Ricker each dished off three assists.

BUCYRUS -- Riverdale finished the regular season with a 25-20, 19-25, 25-20, 25-19 North Central Conference loss to Bucyrus.

Catlin Pauley led the way for the Falcons with 11 kills, five blocks and four aces.

Brittany Wetherill added eight kills and 13 digs and Taylor Farmer recorded 30 assists for Riverdale (6-16 overall, 4-9 NCC).

PEMBERVILLE -- Eastwood completed a perfect 14-0 run through the Northern Buckeye Conference volleyball schedule Thursday by knocking off Elmwood 25-18, 25-21, 25-14.

Elmwood's Courtney Thomson slammed 10 kills with six digs, Marissa Swavel had 11 digs and Amanda Jones dished out 23 assists.

Jasmine Marsh and Madison Arnold both chipped in six kills as Elmwood finished second in the NBC at 14-7 overall and 10-4 in the conference.

LAKE 3

MILLBURY -- Amarie Matthews recorded seven kills and a pair of blocks Thursday night as Fostoria completed the regular season with a 25-14, 25-16, 25-7 Northern Buckeye Conference loss to Lake.

Kierra Settles also had seven kills, while Casey Babb served for five points and Jada Hampton added four kills for the Redmen (2-19 overall, 1-13 NBC).

OTTOVILLE 3

CONTINENTAL 0

OTTOVILLE -- Abby Siefker was 16 of 17 on attacks with 10 kills as Ottoville whipped Continental 25-16, 25-9, 25-12 Thursday in a Putnam County League volleyball match.

Tammy Wannemacher was 20 of 20 serving with four aces and Tonya Kaufman added 10 assists on 35 of 35 setting for the Big Green (8-13 overall, 2-4 PCL).



OTTAWA-GLANDORF 3

VAN WERT 0

VAN WERT -- Stacy Walker, Niki Ellerbrock and Kristi Jerwers combined for 33 kills as Ottawa-Glandorf swept Van Wert 25-18, 25-18, 25-15 to win the Western Buckeye League crown with a perfect conference record.

Walker led the way with 14 kills, Ellerbrock added 10 and Jerwers finished with nine for the Titans (16-5, 9-0 WBL).

Kelley Selhorst had 38 assists for Ottawa-Glandorf. Kelsey Baldwin had 29 digs and Jerwers added 26.

Van Wert, which began the day in a three-way tie for second place in the WBL, fell to 12-8 and 6-3.

DOLA -- Kylee Hooker went 19 of 19 serving with four aces and Cami Castle recorded 12 kills Wednesday night to help power Hardin Northern to a 25-15, 25-18, 21-25, 25-20 nonconference volleyball victory over Lima Perry.

Becky McElree had 15 digs and two aces, while Addy Bame provided nine kills and two aces.
