Girls Basketball: Second-half run propels Findlay High past Clay
OREGON -- Findlay's 28-12 second-half run sealed the deal Thursday night in a 58-32 Three Rivers Athletic Conference victory over Oregon Clay.

Findlay, opening the 2013 portion of its schedule in grand style, improved to 8-2 overall and 5-1 in the TRAC.

With a 29-20 halftime lead, the Trojans' defense only allowed 12 points the rest of the way while Findlay produced 28 points at the offensive end of the floor.

Taylor Stanfield recorded a double-double for the Trojans with 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

Christina McQueen led the Trojans' scoring effort with 16.

Morgan Connor paced the Eagles (3-9, 1-5) with 10 points. Samantha Charchol had a team-high five rebounds.

BLOOMDALE -- Rossford led at halftime but it was all Elmwood over the final two quarters as the Royals stayed unbeaten with a 53-36 Northern Buckeye Conference girls basketball win over the Bulldogs on Thursday.

Elmwood (9-0, 4-0 NBC) trailed 26-25 at the breack. The Royals came out of the lockerroom smoking, though, outscoring Rossford (6-4, 4-1) 17-3 in the third quarter.

Brittany George tossed in 14 points and Brittany Gross added 12 points with five steals and three assists to lead the Royals.

Kristen Curtis grabbed nine rebounds as the Royals finished with a huge 31-13 edge on the boards.

Alaina Mitchell scored 14 points and Julie Hotz 13 for Rossford.

KALIDA -- A 29-13 first-half dominance set the tone for Ottoville as the undefeated Big Green cruised to a 51-27 victory over Kalida in a Putman County League girls basketball game Thursday night.

Ottoville held Kalida to single-digit scoring in each quarter.

The win by the Big Green (10-0, 2-0 PCL) was their 34th consecutive victory and their 21st straight PCL triumph.

Rachel Turnwald was the leading scorer for the Big Green with 14 points. Abby Siefker, who will be playing for Bowling Green State University next season, added 10 points.

Nicole Recker was the leading scorer for the Wildcats (6-3, 2-1) with eight points.

FOSTORIA -- Senior Diana Bushman connected on three 3-pointers to spearhead an Eastwood second-quarter rally as the Eagles repelled Fostoria 44-33 in Northern Buckeye Conference action Thursday night.

With the Redmen up 6-4 after the first period Eastwood (2-5, 2-3 NBC) blitzed Fostoria (0-9, 0-5) 19-3 to take a 23-9 lead into the lockerroom.

Bushman led the Eagles with 15 points and Presley Weaver had 10. Sophomore Jada Hampton was solid for the Redmen scoring a game-high 22 points.
