Girls Basketball: 5th-ranked Patrick Henry rolls to 12th victory, 49-34
HAMLER -- Bryan won the first quarter but Patrick Henry won the next three as the Patriots remained unbeaten with a 49-34 Northwest Ohio Athletic League girls basketball win over the Golden Bears.

The Patriots, the No. 5 team in the initial Associated Press Division IV poll, improved to 12-0 overall and 4-0 in the NWOAL.

Kelsey Tietje put together another double-double for the Patriots with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Teammate Katy Hammer scored eight points and dished out six assists.

Haley Schimmoeller scored 12 points and grabbed four rebounds for Bryan (6-6, 1-3).

NORTH BALTIMORE -- Three players scored in double figures for New Riegel as the Blue Jackets won on the road Thursday, defeating North Baltimore 64-41 in Midland Athletic League girls basketball.

Kara Scherger hit a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 16 points, five steals and four assists to lead New Riegel (11-2, 5-1 MAL). Taylor Arbogast finished with 15 points and matched Scherger's four assists, Abby Cassidy added 12 points and Lauren Ladd had eight rebounds.

Olivia Frost hit three 3-pointers on her way to 14 points for North Baltimore (7-6, 2-3) and Ricci Emahiser had six rebounds for the Tigers.

North Baltimore kept it close early, with New Riegel leading 18-14 after the first quarter. Runs of 21-8 in the second quarter and 21-4 in the third by New Riegel put the game out of reach.

ATTICA -- Sydney Wentling had a shooter's touch Thursday for Carey in the Blue Devils' 57-41 win over Seneca East in Midland Athletic League girls basketball.

Wentling hit four 3-pointers and finished with 23 points to lead Carey (11-1, 5-1 MAL), which led by 15 points after the first quarter. Hannah Draper scored 10 points and Hannah Tong grabbed 10 rebounds for the Blue Devils .

Ashton Daniel had 16 points to pace Seneca East (8-4, 3-2).

TIFFIN -- Turnovers hindered St. Wendelin as the Mohawks fell 47-46 to Tifffin Calvert in overtime Thursday in Midland Athletic League girls basketball action.

St. Wendelin (7-7, 2-4 MAL) had 20 turnovers and it kept the Mohawks from recording their sixth win in the last seven games.

Kate Brickner carried Calvert with 19 points and six rebounds.

Kamryn Troike led St. Wendelin with 15 points while Colleen Fondessy followed up with 14 points.

PAULDING -- Columbus Grove started slowly but finished with a flourish Thursday as the Bulldogs defeated Paulding 54-39 in a Northwest Conference girls basketball game.

Grove trailed 15-10 after one quarter before building a 27-14 halftime lead. The Bulldogs (2-10, 1-3 NWC) sealed the deal with a 12-4 edge in the fourth quarter.

Megan Verhoff had a double-double for Grove with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Rachel Schumacher had a game-high 11 points, Sammi Stechschulte added 10 points, and Sydney McCluer scored eight points with four assists.

Abby Pease led Paulding (4-7, 0-4) with 10 points.

ADA -- Ada's Tori Wyss and Taylor Willeke were as productive offensively as Allen East and the pair combined for 35 points in the Bulldogs' 52-35 win Thursday over the Mustangs in Northwest Conference girls basketball.

Wyss scored a game-high 18 points and Willeke added 17 points and six assists for Ada (8-5, 3-1 NWC).

Kylie Wyss had 11 points and Lisa Truex 10 for Allen East (5-6, 2-2).

SPENCERVILLE -- The Bluffton girls basketball team defeated Spencerville 46-33 Thursday night in a Northwest Conference contest.

With the win Bluffton (9-2, 4-0 NWC) remains tied with atop theconference with Convoy Crestview (11-1, 4-0), a 42-41 winner over Lincolnview Thursday.

The Pirates, who have won five straight games and nine of their last ten, play Convoy Crestview in their second-to-last NWC game on February 7.

No other information was received on the game.
