College Sports: Malone, Walsh granted full D-II membership
Malone and Walsh universities have been granted full NCAA Division II status, according to a report in the Canton Repository.

Both schools, who are members of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, will be eligible for NCAA Division II postseason competition beginning this fall.

The approval completed a three-year transition from the NAIA to the NCAA for Malone and Walsh. The NCAA turned down a previous application for Division II membership from Walsh and Malone in 2009.

Malone and Walsh other schools gaining full Division II membership from the NCAA were Black Hills State (S.D.), California Baptist, Lindenwood (Mo.), McKendree (Ill.), South Dakota Mines and Ursuline.

Walsh and Malone now joins Findlay, Ashland, Cedarville, Central State, Notre Dame College, Ohio Dominican, Tiffin and Urbana as Ohio schools competing in Division II.
