College Basketball: UF's Brown named to D-II All-America list
University of Findlay senior Kayla Brown was named Monday to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-American honorable mention list, becoming the Oilers' women's first basketball player to receive the honor at the NCAA Division II level.

Brown, a first-team all-region and all-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference pick, averaged 17.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 1.7 assists per game during her senior season. She shot 51.7 percent from the field, 37.4 percent from the 3-point line and 78.7 percent from the free throw stripe.

Her 523 points in 2012-13 are the third-highest single-season total in school history and her 64 treys rank second all-time.

The Mount Blanchard native led the Oilers to their best NCAA Division II season with a 24-6 record. The Oilers ended the season ranked 18th, reached the GLIAC tournament finals and earned a spot in the Division II national tournament.

For her career, Brown ranks eighth in scoring (1,277 points) and fifth in 3-pointers (138) and sixth in steals (199).
