Prep Volleyball: Arlington moves to 13-0
MOUNT BLANCHARD -- Erin Helms was 20 of 20 serving with six aces and she had a team-leading 47 digs to help unbeaten and state-ranked Arlington sweep past Riverdale and Carey Saturday in a volleyball triangular.

Arlington, now 13-0 on the season and ranked 11th in last week's Division IV coaches poll, stopped Riverdale 25-16, 25-9 and rallied against Carey for a 25-9, 23-25, 25-19 victory. In the third match, Carey posted a 25-14, 25-20 victory over Riverdale.

Lindsay Werst led the Red Devils with 17 kills on 24 of 27 attacks, Laurin Houck went 65 of 66 setting with 34 assists and Lauren Willow had 18 blocks.

The Blue Devils (7-3) earned a split with a 25-14, 25-20 win over the Falcons.

Carey's Shelby Seifert slammed 13 kills with seven blocks. Logan Johnson finished with 24 digs and 10 kills, Shelby Kin added 12 kills with four blocks, Claire Allison added 19 digs and Sydney Wentling dished out 42 assists on 114 of 116 setting for the Blue Devils.

Taylor Farmer (46-48 setting, 14 assists), (14-14 hitting, 7 kills, 6 digs) and Carrol Pauley (9-10 serving, 2 aces, 15-18 hitting, 6 kills, 36-36 setting, 10 assists, 6 digs) paced Riverdale (2-6).

NEW RIEGEL -- New Riegel featured three players with at least 15 kills and the Blue Jackets remained unbeaten with wins over Fostoria (25-1, 25-5) and Arcadia (25-20, 25-11) Saturday in their own tournament.

The Redskins defeated Fremont St. Joseph 25-8, 25-14 in their first match.

Taylor Arbogast (19 kills), Morgan Noftz (16) and Kara Scherger (16) all propelled the offense for New Riegel, which was ranked fourth in the initial Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association Division IV poll.

Noftz (32-32 setting 23 assists) and Ladd (34-34, 13) were perfect setting up the Blue Jackets offense. Brittany Gillig added five aces on 37 of 37 serving and nine digs.

Molly Glick was 31 of 33 attacking with 20 kills for Arcadia (4-5).

Madie Ramsey ended up 102 of 102 setting with 40 assists and nine digs, while Abbie Dauterman pounded 16 kills for the Redskins.

Fremont St. Joseph won the consolation match by beating the Redmen 25-7, 25-7.

No stats were submitted by Fostoria (3-9).

OTSEGO 1

Liberty-Benton came back from a first game loss and dominated the rest of the way as the Eagles defeated Otsego 18-25, 25-15, 25-14, 25-22 Saturday in a nonconference volleyball match.

Carrigan Gray had a huge night for Liberty-Benton (10-2), which was ranked sixth in the initial Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association poll.

Gray slammed a team-high 19 kills on 46 of 49 hitting, dished off a team-high 29 assists on 45 of 45 setting and made 13 digs defensively.

Rachel Myers and Lauren Kotey each added 12 kills to the Eagles' offensive barrage.

L-B got it done defensively, too.

Olivia Newman (21), Myers (18), Brooke Hoehne (17) Carrie Reynolds (15) and Blair Harmon (12) each had double-digit digs, while Lauren Kotey had five blocks.

BLUFFTON -- Kaleigh Oberly recorded 14 kills and 13 assists to help lead Bluffton Saturday to a sweep of Upper Scioto Valley and Elida in a triangular volleyball match.

The Pirates, now 5-4 overall, beat USV 25-17, 25-23 and Elida 25-18, 25-15.

Paige Buroker served three aces and Lauren Parkins had 17 digs against USV.

FOSTORIA -- Elmwood saw Jasmine Marsh and Ashley Versyer combine for 15 kills as the Royals completed a triangular volleyball sweep Saturday of St. Wendelin and Van Buren.

The Royals (9-4) stopped St. Wendelin 25-16, 25-15 and Van Buren 25-8, 25-5. St. Wendelin defeated Van Buren 25-14, 25-23 in the third match.

No statistics were available on the Elmwood-St. Wendelin match, but Marsh had nine kills and Versyer six with Amanda Jones recording 20 assists and Marissa Swavel eight digs.

St. Wendelin got six kills from Becca Starn and Kamryn Troike, while Hailee Burns served four aces. Burns and Sophia Volpe each had seven digs.

DEFIANCE -- Patrick Henry won its first match of the year, a 27-25, 25-29 decision over Stryker Saturday in a nonconference volleyball triangular at Tinora.

The Patriots fell 25-8, 25-11 to the Rams in the second match.



CRESTVIEW TRI-MATCH

CONVOY -- Carlee Miller served five aces and had 14 digs as Kalida split a nonconference volleyball triangular Saturday against Antwerp and Convoy Crestview.

The Wildcats (6-3) defeated Antwerp 25-13, 20-25, 25-20, but fell 25-22, 25-17 to Crestview (6-1).

Liz Turnwald recorded a team-leading 14 kills and had 10 digs. Alexis Decker provided 13 assists and Nicole Recker 12.

GALION 1

SYCAMORE -- Kasey Adelsperger had 19 kills and six blocks, Clara Adelsperger 39 assists and Taylor McClain 42 digs as Mohawk won for the seventh time Saturday by beating Galion 25-23, 20-25, 25-21, 25-22 in nonconference volleyball play.

Mohawk (7-1) also got 14 kills, 23 digs and two blocks from Julie Adelsperger with MacKenzie Sowers adding 16 digs.

Galion lost for just the second time in 13 matches.

MILLER CITY TRIANGULAR

MILLER CITY -- Miller City picked up its first win of the season as the Wildcats split a nonconference triangular at home on Saturday.

Miller City (1-10) dropped a 25-22, 25-17 decision to Wayne Trace to open the day before stopping Lima Perry 25-11, 25-17.

Janke vanWezel led the wildcats with 24 digs, four kills and three aces. Miller City's Jana Schroeder had 11 digs, Kristin Schmenk added eight kills with seven digs and Chloe Ruck netted 18 digs and four assists.
