Boys soccer: L-B and O-G battle to 1-1 tie
OTTAWA -- Liberty-Benton got a game-tying goal from Jacob Lyberg as the Eagles and Ottawa-Glandorf battled to a 1-1 deadlock Saturday in nonconference boys soccer.

After a scoreless first half, O-G (6-1-3) got a goal from Mitch Niese six minutes into the final period. But Lyberg, on an assist by Zach Garver, tied it with 18:31 showing as Liberty-Benton improved to 6-0-1 on the season.

CONTINENTAL -- Chad Pever scored the first and third goals Saturday as Riverdale beat Continental 3-1 despite being outshot 15-8 in nonconference boys soccer.

Joe Lauck assisted on Pever's first tally, Pever then set up a goal by Nick Parsell and Kip Elwood provided the assist on Pever's second goal of the day to even Riverdale's record at 4-4-1.

Justin Riegle (five steals, four intercepts), Brandon Rall (one steal, five intercepts), Parsell (three steals, three intercepts) and Elwood (one steal, four intercepts) led the Riverdale defense.

VAN WERT -- Lincolnview's Cole Schmersal scored two second-half goals to offset a pair by Cory-Rawson's Austin Brown in the opening half Saturday as the teams battled to a 2-2 nonconference boys soccer match tie.

Keith Edwards had an assist on Brown's first goal in the opening period.

CELINA -- David Nester accounted for the lone goal Saturday and Bluffton outshot Celina 16-5 in posting a 1-0 nonconference boys soccer victory over the Bulldogs.

Stephen Tatarkov assisted on Nester's goal as the Pirates improved to 6-3-0 on the season.

LIMA -- Austin Burns and Andrew Ritchie each scored two goals and Lima Shawnee held a 23-5 shots advantage in blanking Upper Sandusky 7-0 Saturday in nonconference boys soccer.

Trey Brock, Ryan Roberts and Brennan Gaffer accounted for the other goals for Shawnee (2-4-1).

Clay Musgrave recorded 16 saves for the Rams (5-5-0).



SIDNEY -- Ottoville's eight match winning streak came to an end Saturday, but the unbeaten streak lived on as the Big Green played to a 0-0 tie at Sidney Lehman Catholic Saturday.

Ottoville (8-0-1) put six shots on the goal. The Cavaliers, who are now 4-2-1, only had three.
