Prep Boys Golf: FHS's Shoemaker medalist at Trojan Invitational
Spencer Shoemaker fired a 38-34--72 to take medalist honors at the Trojan Invitational Saturday, but Findlay finished 11th and Van Buren 12th in the 12-team tournament held at the Findlay Country Club.

Upper Arlington took the team title with a 303. Dublin Jerome (309) and Dublin Coffman (310) were close behind.

Shoemaker was the first Findlay High golfer to win medalist honors at the tournament since the first year of the invitational when David Gordley shot a 78.

Jarrett Quanrud (84), Van Mallett (85) and Alex Schumaker (91) each figured into Findlay's 332 team score.

Jimmy Irving (81), Sawyer Junge (82), Mac Williams (83) and Cole Ohlrich (88) were a part of Van Buren's 334.

It was an elite field as the top three teams from the 2012 Division I championship were present along with seven other teams who advanced to the state tournaments last fall.

Mohawk places 7th

HARPSTER -- Mohawk finished seventh out of 13 teams in the Ridgedale Inviational Saturday at Hickory Grove Golf Club.

River Valley won the tournament with a 305, a 17-stroke advantage over second place Elgin. Mohawk finished with a 368.

Chet Margraf led the Warriors by posting an 84 with Braydon Dunlap right behind as he posted an 85.

Billy Dunlap (97) and Carson Weinandy (100) also scored for Mohawk. Riverdale had a 440 and ended up 12th.

Williams is medalist

DELPHOS -- Ottawa-Glandorf golfer Carson Williams shot a 78 to earn medalist honors at Saturday's Delphos Country Club Invitational.

Williams fired a 35 on the front and a 43 on the back nine of the Delphos Country Club layout to finish in the top spot.

Allen East won the tournament with 331 strokes. Kalida, which was led by Zack Erhart's 82, outscored Ottawa-Glandorf 345-356 for second place.
