Girls Soccer: Findlay's Bair nets fifth straight shutout
Findlay High School goalkeeper Olivia Bair recorded her fifth straight shutout as the Trojans edged Ashland 1-0 in a nonconference varsity girls soccer match at Elmer Graham Stadium on Saturday.

Findlay (6-1-1) had a 19-0 edge over the Arrows in shots but was able to put just one of those shots in the back of the net.

Tori Sullivan had the ball on the left side of the goal and crossed it to Amanda Kovaleski who booted the ball into the goal with just 12:59 remaining for the game-winner.

Alexis Ray and Elizabeth Alexander led the Trojans defensively with five intercepts each. Sierra Perry added four intercepts and a steal for the Trojans, who return to action Wednesday for a Three Rivers Athletic Conference match against winless Fremont Ross.

LIMA CENTRAL CATHOLIC 1

LIMA -- Kayla Trevino scored a goal and recorded an assist as state-ranked Liberty-Benton defeated Lima Central Catholic 3-1 Saturday in a nonconference girls soccer game.

Liberty-Benton, which was ranked sixth this past week in the coaches Division III poll, improved to 9-0-1 on the year.

Sam Johnson and Jana Fish each scored a goal for the Eagles (9-0-1) who had 17 shots on goal compared to the Thunderbird's (3-4-1) three shots.

BOTKINS 0

BOTKINS -- Bre Parish had four saves and the Riverdale senior recorded her 30th career shutout Saturday as the Falcons blanked Botkins 2-0 in a nonconference girls soccer game.

Katie Conley and Jordyn Wright scored for the Falcons, who improved to 5-2 on the season. Lindsey Cole had an assist.

Riverdale also had solid defense from Kristen Evans (14 intercepts), Kelsay Martin (8) and Hannah Morris (8).

MILLER CITY 5

BRYAN 1

BRYAN -- Whitney Niese and Jessica Schmenk each scored two goals Saturday as Miller City cruised to a 5-1 nonconference girls soccer victory over Bryan.

The Wildcats, who are now 3-5-2 on the season, saw Brittany Kohls account for the other goal with Bailey Schroeder and Cassie Niese each recording two assists.

Miller City also had a 16-3 shots advantage.



UPPER SANDUSKY 4

SANDUSKY 0

UPPER SANDUSKY -- Sarah Rall recorded a hat trick and Upper Sandusky dominated Sandusky Saturday 4-0 in a nonconference girls soccer game.

Rall also assisted on the Rams' first goal by Sierra Carey as Upper Sandusky improved to 6-3-1 on the season.

KALIDA -- Kalida remained unbeaten as the Wildcats cruised to an 8-0 nonconference girls soccer win over Cory-Rawson on Saturday.

The Wildcats are 6-0-1 while the Hornets fall to 4-2-3.



LIMA BATH 4

FORT JENNINGS 0

FORT JENNINGS -- Lima Bath improved to 7-2-1 on the season by blanking Fort Jennings 4-0 in a nonconference girls soccer match on Saturday.

The Musketeers are 3-3-1.
